Obituary for Stanley Paul Whisenhunt

Stanley Paul Whisenhunt of Amarillo, passed away on January 9, 2019.

A celebration of his life will be at 2pm Monday, January 14 at Hillside Christian Church West Campus Chapel, 6100 South Soncy. Arrangements are under the guidance of Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation Services.

Stanley was born on February 10, 1945 in Littlefield, TX to James Phillip and Jonnie Ruth Whisenhunt. He was the youngest of 5 children. He married Janet on February 20, 2018. He was proud to have served in the United States Army and his time as a police officer in Amarillo. He enjoyed fishing and being around lakes, but most of all, spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Randy; a brother, Randy; and 2 sisters, Phyllis and Shirley.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Whisenhunt; stepson, Jacob Gilliam and wife Charlee of Amarillo; 2 brothers, Keith Whisenhunt and wife Gladys of Azle, TX, Rodger Whisenhunt of Amarillo; grandchildren, Tiffany Whisenhunt, Harley Whisenhunt, Ethan Gilliam, and Alexxis Gilliam all of Amarillo; a great grandson, Teegan Whisenhunt of Amarillo, and several nieces and nephews.

  1. Sorry to hear of Stan’s passing. I worked with”Whiz” for several tears in the process section at Potter County. He was a hell of a partner and always good for a laugh. I’ll sure miss him.

  2. Stan was my father in law, before Randy passed away. He was an amazing man and so loving. I will miss him. He would give you the shirt off your back.
