Obituary for Vonda Lou Finley

Vonda Lou Finley, 81, of Amarillo, was born July 24, 1937 in Hereford, Texas to Joe and Ova (Vernon) Pitts and entered her eternal home on December 29, 2018.  She graduated from Hereford High School, where she met her husband, Bobby D. Finley who she married on August 21, 1957 in Hereford, Texas and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage.  In Hereford, she was employed by Piggly Wiggly. During their life together they were blessed with two daughters that they raised in Hobbs, New Mexico. In Hobbs, she was employed by Levi Strauss and Bob’s Upholstery Shop. She moved back to Amarillo, Texas in 1995, where she was employed by Amarillo Christian School, Cal Farley’s Boys’ Ranch, and Walmart.

Her parents Ova (Vernon) and Joe Pitts, husband: Bobby Finley, and two sisters: Vinita Camp and Lola Holt preceded her in death.

She was a woman of deep, abiding faith in Jesus with a humble, strong love for family and neighbors.

A very devout Christian, whose faith influenced every facet of her life. She loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed teaching two year olds at church and children at Amarillo Christian School.

She will be remembered as a kind woman who loved her family deeply and was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ.  She will be greatly missed by her church family with whom she loved, served, and worshipped God.  She “fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.”  2 Timothy 4:7

Those left to cherish her memory are her family: two daughters and son-in-law: Belinda Finley of Hobbs, New Mexico and Regina and Lance Lindstrom of Monticello, Minnesota, twin sister and brother-in-law Wanda and John Rowland of Amarillo, Texas sister-in-law Linda Finley of Hot Springs, Arkansas, sister-in-law Deana Finley of Germany, Shannon Tidwell of Amarillo, Texas, and many nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A celebration of her life will will be at 2 pm, January 3rd, 2018 at Comanche Trail Church of Christ at 2700 E 34th Ave. Amarillo, Texas with Trey Morgan of Childress, Texas and David Pounds of Amarillo, Texas officiating.  Interment will be in Llano Cemetery under the guidance of Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation Services.
