Obituary for Willie Earl Houston

Willie E Houston age 72, passed away October 4th 2019.  He was born November 23rd, 1946 to Katie Bell Rakestraw in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

He was sent to Texas to be raised by his aunt for a period of time. Then he went to live with uncle Jim Rakestraw, (Katie’s brother) to give him that male role model. For many years he stayed in west Texas and went to public school there.

He later married Ethel Houston who resides in Hereford, Tx.  They had one child in their union and he helped raise my brothers and sisters: Grady, Jerry Larry, Barbara, and La-Nita Brown.  He was a hard worker, for many years he worked  at a meat packing plant.

Some years later he divorced and moved to St. Joseph, MO.  He lived there for some time and started his own dump- trucking business.  After many years he decided to return back to west Texas.  He started driving trucks state to state.

Willie was a very kind-hearted loving person.  He loved to have fun.  His favorite pass time was playing dominoes and cards.  He didn’t mind helping people and never met a stranger.  He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.

He is preceded in death by his mom Katie Bell Rakestraw, aunt Ethel Rakestraw, uncle Jim Rakestraw also a few cousins.

Willie is survived by his daughter Stephanie Thomas and husband Keith Thomas; one grandson Kalvius Thomas; cousin and friends.  All of these he loved very much.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 12th, 2019 at 11:00 AM
