Obituary for Harvey Thomas Conner

Harvey Thomas Conner, age 63, died peacefully at his home in Midwest City, Oklahoma on the 5th of June 2019 surrounded by family and friends. Harvey had been ill for many years and is finally free of his imperfect body and his suffering.

Harvey was born 25th September 1955 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Homer T. and Betty Jean Whitlock Conner. He has 2 sisters, Louise Conner Daniel (Roger), of Denison, TX and Sharon Lee Conner of Oklahoma City, OK.

He married Marcia Pace in November 1987; their marriage was sealed in December 1988 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Four children were born to them over the next six years: Brett Thomas Conner (fiancé, Jackie Weir), Natalie Erin Conner Ransom (Aaron), Holly Michelle Conner Carver (Trevor), and Paul Samuel Conner. The family added a son, Chazz Eugene Putnam (Shelby) during his high school years.

Harvey graduated from Capital Hill High School in Oklahoma City in 1973. He earned a degree from South Oklahoma City Junior College and became a Paramedic. He devoted his life to Emergency Medical Services, serving his community as a Paramedic for 40 years. He taught many as a Professor of EMT at Oklahoma City Community College for 25+ years.

Harvey joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1987 and was a faithful member throughout his life. He served as Elder’s Quorum President, Young Men’s President, High Priest Group Leader, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Primary Teacher, Executive Secretary to six bishops, and his favorite calling was that of a home teacher.

Harvey is survived by his children and their spouses as well as 5 grandchildren whom he adored. Charlotte Michelle Ransom (7), Caroline Elizabeth Ransom (5), Joel Thomas Carver (3), Eleanor Pearl Ransom (1), and Jane Atlas Carver (1); sisters Louise (Roger) and Sharon, brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his Aunt Bonna Lynn Whitlock McGonagle, nephew, Allen Daniel, grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, and
cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 15 June 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Oklahoma City South Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12915 South Sante Fe Avenue, Moore, Oklahoma.

There will be a visitation with the family from 1:00-1:45 pm with no
viewing. There will be a slide show of Harvey at that time. Following the memorial service, the burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, 1800 North Choctaw Road, Choctaw, Oklahoma.

  1. Harvey was an amazing man. When I knew nothing he help me grow. I was always so intimidating with his unique genius. I am much older now but I still hold on to everything that Harvey taught me when I was young and I hope his legacy. education and knowledge lives through the next generation.
