Amarillo, TX — July 30, 2024 — Lighthouse Funeral Home and Cremation, Amarillo’s most inclusive and customized end of life care, today named Patrica Garcia as a managing partner. In her new role, Garcia will continue to build upon the trust and commitment she has provided to families in the Amarillo area by fulfilling Lighthouse’s mission to make funeral planning comfortable, meaningful, and affordable for all beliefs and communities.

“Patricia has been a steady hand, guiding hundreds of families through some of the hardest times of their lives as they turn to Lighthouse for help and advice,” said Joel Carver, owner and founder of Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation. “As we transition to a new chapter of our funeral home’s story, I know that she and I, as the sole members of the leadership team, will be able to continue our legacy of lifting the heads and hearts of those grieving in the Amarillo area.”

After more than a decade of experience serving families, Garcia is the only female funeral director in Amarillo that speaks both English and Spanish, giving her the unique ability to empathize and communicate with populations in the city of Amarillo and surrounding communities. Outside of her professional life, she is deeply involved with the community as a member of the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, an active member of the Rotary Club of Amarillo, and a Patriot Guard Rider honoring fallen veterans.

“After my mother’s passing in 2006, I felt called to become a funeral director in order to help those grieving like I was to find more hope and meaning in the truly difficult moments,” Garcia said. “Joel Carver is one of the least judgmental and genuinely caring people I know, and I believe together we can continue to develop new ways to bring light into the life of families we meet.

It has been an immense blessing to be part of a funeral home that puts families first, regardless of their background, and as a new partner I promise to continue that effort for the people of Amarillo.”

Raised in West Texas, Garcia was born in a farming community in Tahoka, Texas where she cultivated a strong faith and work ethic. She would go on to work at the State Capitol right after graduating from high school.  After her mother passed away, Patricia attended Amarillo College where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Mortuary Science, then her Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts & Sciences from WTAMU, she then earned a Master’s Degree in Education at Sul Ross State University. Prior to Lighthouse, Garcia was a managing funeral director at Lemons Funeral Home and the Co-Director of the Mortuary Science Program at Amarillo College where she helped train future generations of funeral directors to serve their communities.
