Joshua Lee Erwin, aged 43, passed away on July 9, 2024, in Plainview, Texas. He was born on January 11, 1981.
A BBQ Memorial Service was held July 21, 2024, at 1411 S. Western, Amarillo Texas.
Joshua dedicated 15 years of his career to serving at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He later became Sergeant of Correctional Officers, where he was respected for his professionalism and commitment.
Joshua was known for his sweet, caring, and humble demeanor. Outside of his professional life he loved bowling and enjoyed cooking. He cherished spending quality time with his loved ones and caring for his pets, Xena, Whiskey and Brandy. He was an avid Steelers fan, as well as a wrestling fan. He loved playing PS4 games, listening to music and getting tattooed. Joshua was an honest man, always wanting to help anyone in need and doing so with a smile. However, when it came to his mother, he was very protective of her, making sure to always keep her safe. Joshua’s warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Joshua was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Lee Erwin; his maternal grandparents, Monroe Thomas Burnes and Betty, Carolyn Sue Self and Wayne; his paternal grandparents, Ward Frances Treloar and Glaspard Ynona Treloar.
His survivors include his mother Deborah June Erwin; his brother Alex Monroe Erwin, and his adopted brother Rodney James Clark, all of Amarillo Texas; his nephews Gage Michael Erwin of Clarendon Texas, Dorian Ward Erwin of Amarillo Texas, Braiden Jay Erwin of Clarendon Texas, and Chaseton Lee Erwin of Clarendon Texas; his adopted nephews Joseph Laroy Coy, Dale James Clark and Dakota James Clark; his adopted nieces Deanna Camille Clark and Tristen Lashell Clark all of Amarillo Texas, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and nine great nieces and nephews.
Josh was a great son to me and was always there to help me if I needed it. He always showed respect to me and everyone he met. He was never abusive to women he was in a relationship with and loved children. From the day his brother Alex came home from the hospital he took the stand of protector of him. He gave him his bottles and diapers from that day forward. He loved and cared for his neices and nephews as if they were his own and none of them were adopted as far as he was concerned. They were all blood equally. He was a hard worker and always did his best. He gained respect from all. As a supervisor he was always there when help was needed and always was there with open arms and ears for anyone in need. I don’t know why he left this world so young but I miss him so much. I love you bunches 😘 Josh and will see you in heaven because I know that is where you are. Your weren’t supposed to go before me.
