Patsy Parrish Phillips left this earth peacefully December 13, 2024. She was born in Panhandle, Texas, to Ascension and Ysidro Garcia on November 15, 1939.
A Celebration of Patsy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Fairview Assembly of God Church 3706 SE 10th St., Amarillo, Texas.
Patsy lost her dad in a railroad accident when she was only nine years old. As a teenager, she worked as a car Hop on roller skates. She met a young man named Royal Dean Parrish. They were married for almost 25 years. Their marriage ended in 1975.
Patsy graduated from Esposito School of Hair Design back in the mid 70’s. She loved doing hair and she loved her clients.
In the early 80’s, Patsy started working in the beauty supply business. She then married Dean Phillips. She worked with Big State and Herzfeld Beauty Supply until it’s closing few years ago. She managed a salon on Duniven until just recently. Patsy thrived in that industry and loved all the customers that walked through the doors. If asked how her day was, she would say, “Blessed” or “Wonderful!” She was known by everyone as the lady with the long black hair, and eyelashes!
Patsy started every day reading her Bible and having a cup of coffee. She loved listening to her favorite Pastors.
She was a hardcore Dallas Cowboy fan. She liked watching Big Brother, the Bachelor, American Idol, and Dancing with the Stars. She watched like she knew them personally! She enjoyed Disco and Country Music, and of course, she loved to two-step and dance Disco back in the day.
Patsy loved eating at restaurants. She enjoyed a good steak and Mexican food. Patsy frequented La Frontera for their carne guisada or Golden Light Cantina for their ham and cheese sandwiches and cold beer. These were her favorites.
Above all, she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She had such an incredible peace about what was to come. She would say, “this is NOT the end…only the beginning.” That statement right there should give all that knew her peace also. “She will be missed by everyone who knew our precious mom.”
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Isidro, Jr.; a son, Roger Wayne Parrish; her husband, Dean Phillips; a sister Josephine Sasueda; a brother, Joe Garcia; two nieces, Sandra Sasueda, and Patricia Brumley, and a nephew, Richard Rey Sasueda.
Left to cherish her memory are six sons and one daughter, Jim Parrish and wife Sylvia, of Anna Texas, Debbie Reining, and husband Gary of Panhandle, Texas, Rodney Parrish and wife Linda of California, Steve Parrish and wife Holly of Placida Florida, Jerry Parrish and wife Gina, of Parrish Florida, Paul Parrish and wife Sue of Kingston, Oklahoma, and John Phillips of Amarillo, as well as 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
We would like to extend a special thank you to our brother, John Phillips, Kimberli Phillips, and our sister, Debbie Reining, for their precious care of our beloved Mother over the past few years, most especially the last few days of her life making certain she was comfortable and peaceful as one walked into her home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to Fairview Assembly of God Church, 3706 SE 10th St., Amarillo, Texas. 79104.
I will always remember her for being there to help me get started in my business. She always had advice and told me how things could work. She was like a mother. Loved me and never asked for anything. I respected and lived her like a mother. You will be missed more than you know. But not ever forgotten
I lived Pat so much, she did my Moms hair so many times, y Mom loved her too. She was a beautiful woman and I love all this write up, I know her even more now. Love and prayers to all the family!💜💜
Fell in love with Patsy way , way back when her children spent many days at my home with my kids. They’re still close friends. Enjoyed spending time with all for many years. Love you Patsy, will cherish your memory always.
Patsy was like a 2nd mom to me in the 70’s and 80’s, growing up down the street and being friends/brothers with Paul, Jerry, and Steve. Was also close to Rodney and Jimmy. My condolences to the entire family. I love you all.
Mrs pat was a wonderful lady in christ….she would always pray with me if I ever needed her too …I loved her she helped me with anything I needed and she loved my husband always asking about him she was a true jewel to me and my family and I know she is dancing on the streets of God…No more pain…just embracing God’s beautiful love….I can’t make it today but please know that I loved deeply ….
She was my husband’s Aunt, but she became my best friend in the last couple of years. I miss her deeply, but I’m happy for her that she is no longer suffering and she is with her loved ones once again.
