Bennie Mack Henson, 78, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on June 16, 2025. Born on February 11, 1947, to Eithel and William Henson, Mack was a feisty, loving, and unforgettable presence in the lives of all who knew him.
Mack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Idana Weatherred Henson; his parents, Eithel and William Henson, and his siblings, Myrtle Henson, Robert Henson, Horace Henson, Betty Hamner, Barbara McWhorter, and Brenda Skraastad.
He is survived by his son, Jason Henson and wife, Becca of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Ariel and Christyn Henson; his stepchildren Casey Jeter and wife Sherry and their child Aaron, Chad Jeter and wife Megan, and their children Damien and Chris, and Kyle Jeter and wife Ibbie, and their children, Henry and Emilyn, and his extended family and friends.
Mack leaves behind a legacy of faith, laughter, and unconditional love that will live on in all who knew him.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on June 28, 2025, at Crossroads Country Church, 14425 Farm to Market Road 1541, Amarillo, Texas.
Grandpa Mack was a very kind and loving person. He would always greet anyone with a hello and a smile. He could always brighten someone’s day with his big smile. He will be greatly missed by many. It’s not goodbye grandpa mack it’s see you again.
What a humble, joyful, honest and honorable friend for life. A few weeks ago, going south on Bell, Mack honked and waved so big. Perhaps he was so excited for reuniting with multitudes whom he loved and they loved him! Thank you all for sharing Mack with our community!!
We loved Mack and enjoyed having him in our family. We will miss him.
We will all miss that wonderful smile that could make anyone have a good day. Mack was a man of many skills and good character. Those of us that got to know him were very lucky and anyone that saw him anywhere were always blessed by his smile. I will miss him and his “check ins” that he would do. What a wonderful person and a wonderful life.
