Bertha Lucero, 87, of Amarillo, passed away March 16, 2023 with her daughters at her side. She was born August 30, 1935, in Farley New Mexico to Eufracio and Guadalupe (Sears) Gonzales.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023, in the Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel.
Bertha was a great person. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ first and loved all her children. She often loved those whom she didn’t give birth to as her own children. She was a great cook, seamstress, and she loved her telenovelas. Her favorite thing to do was dance. She was a casino aficionado. Bertha enjoyed playing bingo at home with her kids. She loved her family unconditionally. Her daughters are so thankful that they were able to spend her final days with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eufracio and Guadalupe Gonzalez; her children, Georgetta McCaughtry, Darlene Rodriguez, Marylynn Pendergraft, and Charlie Woodring, Jr., and her sisters, Esther Olivas and Margaret Beatriz.
Bertha will be remembered by her loving family including her children, Garry McCaughtry, Suzann Sanchez, Charlotte Otero, Raymond Woodring, Luella Rodriguez, Ada Woodring, Louie Woodring, Marcelina Perez, Solida Williams; 46 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her brothers, Edward Gonzales, Vicente (Lee) Gonzales, and Phil Gonzales. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was a beautiful person who loves her family. She will be greatly missed. I love you Tia.
