Glenda Beth Lee, lovingly known as Beth, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 6, 2025. She was 75 years old.

Beth was born on April 29, 1950, in Canyon, Texas, to Ellen Marie Nelson and William Harlace Nelson. She grew up in the Texas Panhandle and attended River Road Schools, later proudly earning her GED through Amarillo College — a reflection of her determination and lifelong commitment to growth.

Throughout her life, Beth had a strong sense of service and compassion for others. She worked as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, where she was known for her strength, integrity, and resilience. She also found deep purpose as a special needs advocate where her kindness, patience, and fierce dedication touched the lives of countless students and families.

In 1979, Beth married the love of her life, Dean Alan Lee, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and faith.

Beth was a strong Christian woman who faithfully attended Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Her love for the Lord guided her life and was evident in the way she cared for others, prayed for those in need, and lived with kindness and conviction.

She had a creative and adventurous spirit that shone through in everything she did. She loved sewing, had a sharp eye for treasures while garage saling and dumpster diving, and filled her home with warmth through her baking and cooking. Beth was also a passionate animal and plant lover, and she never hesitated to take in strays — both animals and people — giving them love, care, and a safe place to belong.

Beth was lovingly known as “Memaw”, a name that reflects the nurturing heart she carried for her family and all those she welcomed into her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dean Alan Lee, and her parents Ellen Marie Nelson and William Harlace Nelson.

She is survived by her children, DeDee and Erick Johnson of Canyon, Texas, Daisha and Seth Simmons of Dalhart, Texas, Roy and Tracie Lee of Dalhart, Texas, and Elionna Hampton of Amarillo, Texas. She is also survived by her siblings Mike and DeNell Nelson and Nita Harris.  Beth’s legacy of love continues through her cherished grandchildren: Arista and Colin Stradley, Preston Johnson, Dakota and Mandi Butts, Destiny and Mitchell Green, Desiree and Jake Holtman, Summer Simmons, Dallas and Tatum Isbell, James Dean Lee, Saraya Lee, and Audrey Cano. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Emily, Mason, and Mia Green and Florence Isbell, who brought her endless joy and filled her heart with pride. Beth is further survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: JW and Callie Nelson, Buck and Cindy Nelson, Tina and Jeff Gilbert, and Tracy and Chuck Pruitt, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Beth will be remembered for her generous heart, her steadfast faith, her adventurous spirit, and her gift for making everyone she met feel seen and valued. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched — through her work, her friendships, her faith, and most of all, through her family.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 555 E. Hastings Ave., Amarillo, with a graveside service to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6969 East Interstate 40, Amarillo, Texas.
