On Sundays, Bruce could be found screaming at the television as if he were the head coach of the Cowboys, Chiefs, or Texans. He loved all things football. If you knew Bruce, you knew he also loved to tease, pester, and talk about the many cars, trucks, motorcycles, three and four-wheelers, and go-carts he owned throughout his years. He loved being outside, cooking out on his grill, and riding his toys with all the kids; he was always a big kid himself. He loved his family time, and he worked hard to take exceptional care of us all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lillian Ann Underwood, and his grandson, Jonathan Mullins. He is survived by his loving wife, Landria, four siblings, his children Debbie Ballew, Christy, and son-in-law Lyle Sanders, Katrina Baker and son-in-law James Mullins – all of Amarillo, son Ricky Ballew of Forney, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He leaves a legacy of laughter, a lot of sawdust in the garage, and a family that will always miss the joy and love he brought to everyone around him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at The Loft Church located at 4400 S Georgia St., in Amarillo.
I have only love and fond memories of Bruce. He was such a good guy and the best brother-in-law, and a sweet and kind uncle to my boys growing up. My heart goes out to my nieces and their families, Landria, his siblings and all who loved Bruce. He is much loved and will be missed by everyone. But I also know his love and spirit will be close to you all until you see him again. Big hugs! (I will always love you Bruce)
