Byron Everitt DePauw, 50, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 6, 2025. He was born in Amarillo, Texas, September 5, 1975, to his parents Wilbur Byron and Jeanette Everitt DePauw.
Byron was born and raised in Amarillo, he graduated from Tascosa High School, while in school he put in extra work helping his dad with his construction business until his father’s untimely passing when Byron was 18. After he left the construction business, Byron attended some classes at Amarillo College for graphic design and eventually landed himself a job at Nearfall until he had to retire for medical reasons. Aside from his love for graphic design, Byron had a passion for music, often in his personal time he would write his own songs, mostly about his feelings and events in his life. He performed privately for family and friends, and many of them joked that if he was upset with you, you know you had a song coming. He also loved his furbaby, a cat named Dottie and his fish, he spent a lot of time taking care of and watching his fish in their tank.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Byron and Jeanette Everitt DePauw; his grandparents, Wilbur and Nola DePauw and Willie and Gertrude Everitt; his sister, Denise DePauw; and his stepbrother, Toby Hubbard.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Melanie DePauw; his son Byron Alexander DePauw; stepson, Seth Simmons; his sisters, Elaine Eubanks, Kimberly Shockley and Tracy McGrew. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations be made to the local humane society.
Byron was crazy fun to work with in the phone book days at Great Western Directories. His mom was working there as well when she passed. I lost track of Byron after the dot com bubble popped GWD which had changed names 3 times WorldPagez.com and sold out to San Diego. We talked on facebook off and on.
50 is too young. The world is a darker place without Byron’s light.
