Constance “Connie” Rose Scott (née Lester), a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas, at the age of 71.

Born on January 14, 1954, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Connie was known for her feisty spirit, great sense of humor, and deeply kind heart. Above all, she loved the Lord and dedicated her life to her family.

Connie held a variety of jobs throughout her life, but the most meaningful role she embraced was as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) providing home health care. She truly cherished the opportunity to connect with her clients on a personal level, providing both care and companionship.

An amazing cook, Connie’s kitchen was the heart of her home, often filled with the wonderful aromas of her latest creation. She was a woman who enjoyed simple pleasures, including reading mystery novels, playing spirited card games like Skip-Bo and King’s Corner, and spending quality time with her family in the outdoors. She was a dedicated mother who found immense joy in going to church with her loved ones.

Connie is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Barby Ward; her grandson, Michael DeRosa-Richards; her parents, L.C. Lester and Drucilla Letendre; and her sister, Anne Rivera.

She is survived by her former husband, Donald Scott; her daughter, Sonya Hodges, and her husband, Mark of Amarillo.

Connie’s legacy lives on through her seven cherished grandchildren: Marissa Rose, Miranda Ward, Hector Del Fierro, Juan Del Fierro, Denise Del Fierro, Miguel Del Fierro, and Yessica Del Fierro. She was also the proud great-grandmother to eight beautiful great-grandchildren: Aiden, Alexia, Akaleyanna, Xavier, Elijah, Niklaus, Malachi, and Ezekiel.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Connie’s life will be held on Saturday, December 6, at 11:00 AM at the Church of Christ, located at 6701 Bushland Rd. in Amarillo, Texas.
