Penny Lawlis was born on July 19, 1943, at Clovis, New Mexico Hospital. Penny was the fourth of five children in the family. She had two brothers and two sisters.

Penny graduated from Bovina High School in 1961 and married James (Jim) Lawlis in 1962. Penny worked at First National Bank in various locations in Texas and in Oklahoma while following her husband’s jobs, and then left the banking world to start a family. She had two children, Jane and Jodi. Once the girls were married, Penny once again worked outside the home for Hillside Christian Church for 14 years; then she retired.

Her hobbies were sewing, crafts, making jewelry, reading, and watching the Hallmark channel. Her favorite movies were always romantic comedies. Penny and Jim were married for 62 years. She was a wonderful Christian wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved Jesus and her family. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband, James (Jim) Lawlis, daughter Jane Lawlis and husband Ray Davis, daughter Jodi Hill and husband Chris Hill, grandchildren Preston Maxwell and Ashton Hill.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Penny’s favorite charities, Sharing Hope Ministries. Per Penny’s request, there will be no funeral services.
