Daniel Morehead, 47, of Amarillo, passed away January 22, 2023, at home with his mother and girlfriend at his side. He was born October 23, 1975, in Amarillo, to David L. Morehead and Sandra McMurray.
Daniel loved the simple things in life. He would often share his fondest memories of fishing at Lake Marvin. He loved watching football and basketball. Daniel was a massive San Francisco 49’ers fan from the time he started playing and watching football at a young age. Daniel was a lover of all animals, especially cats and birds. He loved his spoiled cat, Skye. Daniel was very good at composing lyrical poetry and loved to turn the poetry into song. He also loved to BBQ, listen to music, doing magic tricks, and trying his luck at lottery scratch-offs.
He is survived by his mother Sandra McMurry; his father David Morehead; a sister Trisha Morehead; his grandmother Coetta McMurry; his girlfriend and best friend Heather Moore-Lawson, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service honoring Daniel’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25, 2023, in the Lighthouse Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave. with Pastor Greg Corona officiating.
I knew Daniel when he was a little boy. So sad. Condolences to David, Sandra, Trisha and extended family for their loss. May he Rest in Peace. George and Shirley Griego
Those that were close to Daniel would say do not judge a book by its cover, for Daniel was many things from a prankster to a deep thinker. Daniel’s heart was full of love, care and concern for everyone especially his family expressing those feelings was another thing. Daniel was very smart I remember the many times we would watch Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Who Wants to be a Millionaire and he would floor me with how well he did and the things that he knew. I would call him a nerd and he would just look at me and laugh with that nerdy laugh that he had. I recall the many times that we would just sit and listen to music and in those moments a type of calm would come over Daniel, and it was like as he was listening to the music he was studying it as well. In those moments of us listening to music was when we had our deepest conversations. I knew Daniel’s heart and I also knew his heart aches, I also knew Daniel’s inner struggles as he also knew mine. I love my cousin very much and he may not have been the best person but he was the best person to me.
Daniel I love you and I can’t wait to see you on the other side.
Daniel always made us (Trisha an I) laugh. He kept us laughing. I have many good memories of our days on Manhatten st. You will be missed.
Oh My…I remember Daniel years back because I am a die-hard 49ers and we would talk nothing but Niners and all the memorabilias we had…I had a Jerry Rice jersey and he just admired it and he would show me things he had I admired…haven’t seen Daniel in awhile but thought of him often…sending my thoughts and prayers to your family…Rest In Paradise…kind man.
So many memories to list. I have known Daniel since the 3rd grade. We played many sports together, fished together, had many classes together, and hung out together. We were best friends for many years.I will cherish the time we spent together and the memories. You will be missed! Love You My Friend! Till We Meet Again!!
