He never greeted me without a smile. Never. Genuinely happy to see me. We’ve been friends for over 30 years. He was my brother. He will be missed.

    Rest in Peace, Dan 🕊️

    Dear Dan,

I don’t even know how to find the right words to say goodbye to you. Some people come into our lives for a reason, and you were one of those people for me.

You gave me a place to stay when I needed somewhere to go. You opened your door to me when you didn’t have to, and you never made me feel like I was a burden. But more than giving me a place to stay, you gave me a place where I felt accepted.

You loved me for exactly who I was. Whether I was right or wrong, whether I had everything together or was falling apart, you never stopped loving me. In your eyes, somehow, I was always right. You believed in me even during the times when I didn’t know how to believe in myself.

I’ll always remember your kindness, your heart, and the way you made people feel like they mattered. You didn’t have to save me or fix my life. You simply showed up for me, and sometimes that’s the greatest gift anyone can give.

I’m going to miss you more than I can put into words. There are going to be moments when I wish I could call you, sit with you, hear your voice, or just know that you’re there. And I’m sure there will be days when the reality that you’re gone hurts all over again.

But I don’t want my goodbye to only be about losing you. I want it to be about being grateful that I got to know you.

Thank you, Dan, for opening your home to me. Thank you for accepting me when I wasn’t perfect. Thank you for loving me without asking me to be someone I wasn’t. Thank you for standing by me and reminding me that I was worth something.

I hope wherever you are now, you know how much you meant to me.

I’ll carry the memories of you with me for the rest of my life. And every time I remember the kindness you showed me, I’ll remember the man you were and the difference you made in my life.

    Rest peacefully, my friend. 🕊️

    You were loved.
    You are missed.
And you will never be forgotten.

    Until we meet again, Dan.

Rest in peace, my dear friend. ❤️‍🩹🕊️
