Danny Ray Potts, 61, of Amarillo, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He was born in Santa Ana, California on November 27, 1963, to Donald and Maryann (Foster) Potts.
Danny served 13 years in the US Army in Korea, Germany, and Iraq during Desert Storm, and was a proud member of the 4/18 Infantry. He was a recipient of many awards, including a Bronze Star.
He worked at K&N Plumbing, and Best Texas Plumbing before becoming owner/operator of DR Potts Plumbing in the DFW area, and most recently, in Amarillo, serving the Texas Panhandle, making many friends along the way.
Danny loved God, was a dedicated husband and devoted father, who also raised and treated his stepchildren as his own.
He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, meeting people, and telling stories, talking politics, and not sugarcoating anything.
Danny was a BIG personality whose passing has left a BIG hole in the hearts of many.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; his father Donald of Texas; his mother, Maryann Wilson, of Washington; a daughter Tina and stepdaughter Sandra Catoggio-Jones (Marco), both of Germany, stepdaughter, Christina “Cookie” (Hart) Coching (Ronnie), of Oklahoma; stepsons, William Green (Christina), of Texas, and Harley Green (Katrina) of Massachusetts, and grandchildren Conner, Ashley, Kevin, Jonathan, Emelia, Aria, and Sierra. He is also survived by brothers Donald (Brenda), Darrell (Katie), of Texas, Allen of California, and Sean of South Carolina, and sisters, Donna (Heather) of Oklahoma, and Annette of Washington, as well as aunts, an uncle, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Pavilion at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Danny was an awesome guy, loved by many. He was my brother from my military / combat life and stepfather to my oldest daughter, Sandra. He has made a great impression on me and many others. Until Valhalla, brother.
I’ll always love my first born
It breaks my heart to know Danny has passed. We spent a lot of time together in the 90’s. He always had a big smile and loved having a good time. A group of us went out on the boat and went out of the town a lot. He would always make me laugh at the funny stuff he would say. Danny had a really funny and sarcastic personality. We loved that about him. He definitely loved his family and his girls with all his heart. He will be missed by many. I know god will take good care of him in heaven. RIP Danny
Danny was a straight forward Soldier. He took on the responsibilities of taking care of numerous Soldiers and sometimes more than others he filled in as a Father and Big brother. All thou he was no much older than the kids he served with. I served with Danny in Iraq and Germany as a part of the Alpha Gators in the 4/18th Infantry. Until Valhalla my brother.
Danny was my best friend and fellow Bradley Commander, we did so much together in that Dodge Daytona we went to so many monsters of rock concerts and so many other things he was a top notch soldier and I believe me and him not only motivated our platoon but the company as well. Now the funniest thing I remember is after they froze all pcs’s because I was supposed to leave the next day but I’d rather went with my brothers instead of soldiers I didn’t know from Ft. Benning. Well they put me in a room with Danny and we went out one night and when we got back Danny played baseball on his Nintendo game then he went to bed and I took over I got some chips and cheese dip out and about 4 in the morning Danny woken me up laughing like crazy I had cheese dip from my chin all the way down to my lap Danny never let me live that down. GO REST HIGH ON THAT MOUNTAIN BROTHER I LOVE YOU AND YOU’LL BE missed. RIP
