David Joe “Doobie” Daniels, 61, of Amarillo, passed away on April 27, 2026. He was born in Fullerton, California, on July 17, 1964, to Parnell Malory and Ossie Lee Daniels.
Doobie Daniels lived a life defined not by limitations, but by everything he heard, felt, and understood. He listened more than he spoke, knew more than he ever claimed, and carried a quiet wisdom that drew people to him. Doobie loved loud music, fast cars, his family, and his friends, and he never hesitated to help a stranger or rescue a stray dog. A natural musician, he found joy in any instrument that made noise, and he never shied away from fixing things or building with his hands. Forever a big kid at heart, he brought laughter, curiosity, and warmth wherever he went. His uncanny ability to diagnose a car just by listening to it was one of the many gifts that made him unforgettable.
Doobie was preceded in death by his parents, Ossie and Parnell Daniels; his brothers, Jimmy Smith and J.D. Smith; his sister, Lilian Eberting; and his son, Josh Daniels.
He is survived by his sisters, Fay Patterson and May Elmore; his girlfriend, Shelley Billeter, his daughter, Jennifer Armstrong; his sons, David Daniels II, and David’s wife Nancy, and Jesse Daniels; his grandchildren, Braylynn Daniels, David Daniels III, Rorei Daniels, Dakota Armstrong, Cheyenne Armstrong, and Levi Armstrong.
Doobie will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and the unmistakable way he made life brighter for everyone around him.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., under the direction of Lighthouse Funeral Home.

Doobie you were such an awesome dude!! I remember way back in 2010 when I first met you at Connie and Rick’s house. They told me you were blind, but you grabbed my hand and told me exactly what color my panties were as soon as I walked in the door!! 😮 I was so shocked by that!!!! Then I got to watch you work on cars, and you were an amazing mechanic! You will be missed. Fly high my guy!

Doobie, I remember I was 14 or 15 yrs old when we met, im now 60. U we’re so full of mischief that u wanted to climb in Mondos moms house to get with me. Lol that would of been one Hella of a fight. Thank God u didn’t. Threw out the yrs, good or bad, u always had my back. Thank you for always being my dearest friend. I will miss u dearly. Love Tina.
