Debra Kay “Debbie” Carver, 70, of Amarillo, passed away September 15, 2024, with loved ones at her side.
Viewing and visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Church of Christ at the Colonies (Auditorium), 4500 Wesley Road, Amarillo, Texas.
A Funeral Service will be held at the same location, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024. Arrangements are by Lighthouse Funeral Home.
Debbie was a devoted Christian. She loved her family and adored spending time with them. Taking her grandchildren to Dutch Brothers was such a treat for her. Trips to Red River when her family joined her was one of her favorite pastimes.
Taking “Girl Trips” to Oklahoma City was something she always looked forward to. Debbie had such a competitive nature that she would never let her grandkids beat her in air hockey… even if it was their birthday! She would say, “they have to learn to lose!” (It was different for the great-grandkids though!)
Debbie loved to “prank” everyone by giving them fake lottery tickets or wrapping up a brick as a Christmas gift! Anyone she pranked enjoyed seeing the joy on her face when she did it.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Donna Hodge; her son Jason Carver; her great-grandson, Matthew Carver; a nephew, Brent Hodge; her father-in-law, Charles Carver, and brothers-in-law, Don, and Travis Carver.
Debbie is survived by the love of her life, David Carver, whom she married in June, 1972; her beloved mother-in-law, Mozell Carver; her sons, Shane Carver and wife DeeDee, and Jeremy Carver; three brothers, Bill Hodge and wife Janet, Mike Hodge, and wife, Karen, and Greg Hodge and wife Teresa; five grandsons, Bryce Carver and wife Kate, Trent Carver and wife Kaley, Mason Carver and wife Talia, Bracen Carver and wife Sam, and Layton Carver. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Allison Carver; five great-grandchildren, Damon, Bryce II, Elliana, Miles and Braxton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
I’m so sorry to the Carver and Hodge family. Debbie was a special friend. We had a fun time raising our little boys together. She was a very caring person and mother, and wife. She will be missed.
David & family, I am so sorry for your loss of Debbie. It’s hard to believe that precious little girl I babysat so long ago next door is gone. But no more pain or suffering. You are in our thoughts & prayers.

David and family and Hodge family we pray for comfort and peace at this time of loss! I have sooo many wonderful memories of the Hodge family as neighbors and the fun we had and then as adults the fun continued with volleyball and costume parties. We will miss you so much!!
Debbie was my first friend at age 7, other than my sisters. She lived two doors down and we played in her cherry trees, her mother made clothes for our Barbies, and we were always at each other’s house. As long as I’ve known her, she was vivacous and happy with a smile on her face. There’s a hole in my heart now, but I know it’s only a pin prick compared the the hole in her family’s hearts. She’s at peace! I pray for God’s comfort for all her family!!
