We are sad to announce the loss of Donald Ray LaRue but rejoice in KNOWING that he is now in heaven.
Don was born on January 20, 1967, and passed into the Kingdom August 2, 2024. To call him an amazing man would be an absolute understatement considering the profound impact that he had on the people who were lucky enough to cross his path. His love for Christ was next to nothing and despite being a grump at times he would give a complete stranger his last dollar or the shirt off his back.
Many people would go to Don for advice as he seemingly had all the answers. There was nothing that he could not fix, from a broken heart, a troubled mind, even a vehicle or a boat…he was a master of all trades to say the very least. Many people will feel the loss of Ol’ Donnie, but we know without doubt that he’s in a better place.
He was a father, friend, and everything that reflects the character of a real man.
Don was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Tammie LaRue; his father Don LaRue, Sr.; his uncle Snow and his Aunts Millie and Myrtle.
Survivors include his son Travis Ewayne Little and his wife Kali; his daughter Kendra Little and granddaughters Kaylin and Kynslee; his daughter Kira Dunlap and her husband Brett; a sister-in-law Kelly Bumgarner and her three boys Glenn, Cash, and Justin, Ronnie Bybee and wife Rhonda and their children, Joey, Rindy, Kessa, and Tucker; and a sister Laura Hand of Lubbock, as well as several Vandemark and LaRue relatives. Don had a circle a friends that were more like brothers. Frank Alvarez, Robert Fulton, Terry Fulton, Derek Mears, Cole Younger, Kyaw Chan, all of Amarillo as well as William Moody and Cliff Brightmon of Graham, Texas.
Service of Celebration and Remembrance is pending for now but will be officiated by Pastor and friend Frank Alvarez.
I will definitely miss the advice as my brother said. And he always was with my beautiful momma Tammie rescuing me from trouble since I was a teenager. I will surely miss that loud giggle he would belt out when we made him laugh! RIP Donnie.
I’m so sorry to hear this he was a good friend to my dad u til the day my dad passed. He helped me and my kids on more than one occasion…
I met him in 1984 at TSTI . I had seen him around driving a yellow with black stripes Grimlin ,Then we actually started school and met and instantly became buddies .We went to VICA contest in Dallas and won some seconds and thirds awards , he ended up being my and I was his biggest competitors . We went to the Who concert in Dallas near center row 23 right in front of the stage it was loud and lots of people is suits and gowns we were in our Western Auto uniforms . We drove back just in time for work the next morning, that. Was a long long weekend. Grandpa Don got us the tickets. We built some race cars for Tommy Little while at W.A. 9ften accused of cheating actually we spent a lot of time in the parts books . I was best man at his and Tammy’s wedding . He and I bought a small property out off of Pullman rd and then another where he is/ was now , I was there with him holding his foot as he passed as that the only place the nurses would let me get to him.
I hope you went peaceful and I know youre not in pain anymore.
I know God has a place for you in heaven.
I will miss not talking with you.
