Douglas Eugene Johnson, 70, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, October 4,2024.  He was born in Clinton, Oklahoma on May 4, 1954, to Clifford and Mary (Burton) Johnson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, at Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo.

Douglas liked going to the ocean with his family.  He enjoyed fishing and camping with them.  He spent as much time as he could with his sons and grandsons, talking about cars, and playing video games.  Douglas was full of life and enjoyed everything to the fullest.  He always made sure his precious wife and family were taken care of, as he loved them above all things.

His grandson used to say, “the old man worked hard.”  This was a very true statement, Douglas worked so hard, even when his health wasn’t great. One of his grandchildren shared, “My grandfather was a wise man who I learned a lot from.  He showed me many things, but what I remember most is that he never really got angry, just stern.  His knowledge for the car industry is what I love to hear and learn from him the most.”

Douglas is united in heaven with his parents, Mary and Clifford Johnson, and his beloved son, Daniel Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Roberta Johnson; a son, Douglas Johnson, Jr.; grandsons, Robert Johnson, Douglas Johnson, and William Johnson; his brothers, Dan and Roland; sisters, Diane and Liz, and a host of other relatives.
