It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Douglas McKay Heaster, who was born on April 4, 1958, in Warren, OH, USA and passed away on January 14, 2025. Douglas, a man of dedicated service, inspiring courage, and exceptional humor, resided in Canyon, Texas, where he touched countless lives with his infectious laughter and wisdom.

Douglas was a beacon of light in this world, a thoughtful and loving man whose dedication to his work was only surpassed by his devotion to his family. He was a retired police officer from the Amarillo Police Department, a role that allowed him to exercise his innate sense of justice and empathy. “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well,” Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, and Douglas truly embodied this sentiment. His love for his daughters and grandkids was immeasurable and most important to him. Through his work and his life, he instilled in them, and all who knew him, the importance of compassion, integrity, and laughter.

Douglas is survived by his ex-wife, Terri Heaster, and his loving daughters, Shanna Heaster and Courtney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard, and Florvida Gladson. He was a best friend to many and his absence will leave an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him. We will remember Douglas as a man who loved deeply, laughed heartily, and lived passionately.
