Francisco “Frank” Avila, 79, of Amarillo, passed away on Wednesday December 11, 2024. He was born in Brownsville, Texas on April 2, 1945.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo.
A Funeral Service will be held the next day, Saturday, December 21, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery East, located at the corner of 34th and Arthur Streets.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Fermin and Virginia Avila; two brothers, Celestine and Julian Cortez; a son, Francisco Avila, Jr., and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Mendoza.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Lucia Hill of Hereford, Texas, and Alberta Montoya of Floresville, Texas; his children, Gloria Mendoza and Mario Avila, both of Hereford, Texas, and Lorina Flores, Anthony Flores, and Robert Flores, all of Amarillo; eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
