Gary Lee Phillips

Gary Lee Phillips, born on November 3, 1945 in Corinth, Mississippi, went home to the loving arms of his Lord, on July 13, 2023. He had spent his last years in Wheeless, Oklahoma. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Gary’s life was a testament to his strength, resilience, his unwavering Faith, and his unfaltering dedication to those he held dear.

Following his retirement from Over the Road Truck Driving, he avidly enjoyed carpentry/woodworking, doing landscape oil painting, and was a talented & skilled tattoo artist. He was a man of conviction and steadfastness, who took pride in his work, his art, and the many people who knew and loved him.

Gary was a man of simple pleasures. He had a keen sense of humor and often found humor in the most unexpected of places. He loved life and lived it fully, taking joy in his Harley, showing Tennessee Walking/Racking horses, long nosed Peterbilts, fishing, family and spending time with his adoring & steadfastly loyal cat, Skeeter.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 43 years, Sherry Phillips; his loving daughters Jennifer Salcedo (Geronimo Salcedo), Leslie “Miche” Phillips (Michael Phillips); devoted and faithful siblings David Phillips, Cindy Hopper, and Judy Camp, with whom he shared a close and special bond; 6 cherished grandchildren, 2 precious great-grandchildren, and 11 special nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Harry Phillips, and his mother, Viola Carter Phillips.

We invite you to remember Gary’s life by sharing your memories and stories of him. Please upload photos and leave your thoughts on his memorial page.
