George Clayton Fike, age 82, of Amarillo, Texas passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024. George was born on September 27, 1941, in Perryton, Texas.
George graduated from Perryton High School in 1959. He then went on to join the Marines and served in the Third Battalion, Platoon 309 in San Diego, California in 1964 and joined the reserves thereafter.
George will be remembered for 30 years of service to the greater Amarillo community, successfully running Fikes Transmissions Specialist. He loved cars, motorcycles, music, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed caring for his granddaughters during his retirement.
George is survived by his wife of more than four decades, Michelle. Children; Clayton Fike of Amarillo, Cyndy Fike Yaklin and husband Michael Yaklin of California. David Fike of Texas and Christy Fike of Tennessee and Holle Tucker of Colorado. Grandchildren; Brittanie Nelson of Colorado, Ariel and Aurora Fike of Texas. And three great-granddaughters Ada, Lillie, and Bonnie of Colorado. George will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorthy Fike and siblings: Rex Fike, David Fike and Susan Fike.

I always had good conversation with George at Henry Dee’s on 45th. He had some stories from the Navy and life in Perryton as a kid. I also knew him from the 80’s at the downtown YMCA.
Michelle and children—I was so disheartened to come across the obituary for Susan’s brother, George. My name is Kaye Reinhard, from Tulsa,OK, and Susan was a dear friend of mine. Susan loved her brothers, she was especially grateful for the kindness and support George extended to her through the years. She was also most appreciative of Michelle’s thoughtfulness and loyal friendship. Susan spoke highly of George’s children was proud of his family. I want you to remember that you got two of the VERY BEST PARENTS IN THE WORLD! Every time I hear a song by The Beach Boys, I think of your Aunt Susan. Tonight, I watched a repeat of a program honoring The Beach Boys, and I remembered that Susan won tickets to see Brian Wilson perform and she got backstage pass to meet Brian. She told Brian how she loved his music growing up, and how she and her cousins sang Beach Boys tunes riding in the back of the station wagon, while on family vacations, Brian Wilson passed away a few days ago…so tonight, I put pictures of Brian, Susan, and George in my phone. Moving forward, I wish many wonderful memories for all of you to make with your loving family! God bless you all!
