Gilbert Cavazos Jr. was born on September 14, 1961, in Lubbock, TX, the beloved child of Stella Flores-Ruiz. From an early age, Gilbert was known for his kindness, strong-willed personality, and deep love for his family. These qualities remained constant throughout his life of deep-rooted faith and quiet strength, as he always saw the good in every situation.

Above all, Gilbert loved with his whole heart and enjoyed the company of his family. His family found joy in everyday moments – shared meals, conversation, family tradition, and laughter that brought them all together. These moments have become the foundation of memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his beautiful and loving mother, Stella Flores-Ruiz.

Gilbert is important because he was family. I got to babysit him and his two brothers when I was eight. I would see him here and there at other family members homes ; we were all so young and excited as we explored the world around us.
