Glenna Ruth Whitten

Glenna Ruth Whitten, 82, of Amarillo, Texas passed away June 10, 2023, surrounded by her family, in the comfort of her home.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas.

Glenna was born September 21, 1940, in Seymour Texas, to Betty Blanch Childs Baldwin and John Edward Baldwin. She married Jerry Elbert Whitten in 1988, in Amarillo. At a young age Glenna enjoyed riding her motorcycle. She loved to go dancing. Glenna, being a caring person, volunteered at the Central Church of Christ where she cooked for hundreds of people for many years. She was sweet and caring. Known as “Granny, she took extreme pride in her family with extra love for her “grands and greats.”

Glenna was very creative, crafty and artistic. She expressed her creativity through painting and crafts. She loved sewing.

She worked in retail for years, at Colbert’s, Steinmart, and B&R (Washington Food Mart.)
Glenna was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Jerry Whitten, in March 2012; a brother-in-law, GL Ritchie, of Lubbock; her parents, Betty & John Baldwin of Seymour, Texas, and a daughter-in-law, Derenda Whitten.

She is survived by two daughters, Leigh Ann McCaleb, and Kae Lynn Romero and husband Tony, all of Amarillo; a sister, Dorothy Ann Ritchie of Lubbock; a Brother, John Edward Baldwin, Jr. and wife Emmela of Dallas; a stepson, Jerry James Whitten; grandchildren, Stephen & C.R., Tad, Anthony, Nathan, Justin, Michael & Samantha, Danielle & Joseph, Jarrett & Kelsey, Mason, Shayne, and Ashton and great-grandchildren, Zayden & Alyssa, Alana, Cashton, Romeo, Nayeli, Kamry, Sebastian, Brilun, Aubree, Brantley, Jaxon, Jameson, Greig, Keelen, Jackson, Emma, & Harvey, and a host of loving family and friends.
