In the Summer of 1953, Goldie was born on July 30 to the Peacock family of Ima, NM as the only daughter and youngest child of Ruben and Bea Alma. She was raised on their homestead with her brothers, Dale, Alvie, and Benny. She enjoyed great laughter and memories with her childhood best friend, Shirley Upton. In House, NM she played basketball and graduated as a House Cowgirl in 1971. August 7, 1971, Goldie was whisked away by Bill Baum and his hot rod car, a 1969 Pontiac GTO, and began their 53-year marriage and family in Tucumcari, NM, where they called home for 45 years. Goldie and Bill had one child, David, the apple of her eye whom she adored, loved, and supported immensely. She spent her years earning an associate’s degree from Mesalands Junior College, and showcasing her skilled artistry through countless craft shows where she displayed her many beautiful paintings and other handmade crafts. Through her years in Tucumcari, she spent time working at Montgomery Wards, a five-and-dime shop, a law office, a chiropractor’s office, the Bill Curry Gallery, and the library.

Goldie loved to travel with Bill, and David in his younger years. Some of her favorite vacation spots were Branson, MO; Red River, NM; South Padre Island, TX; and Colorado Springs, CO. Above all, she was happiest when she was with her family. Goldie had three grandchildren, Ashlyn (18), Casey (16), and Serenity (8). She gave them many memories of laughter through play and learning how to be artists like herself and spent hours with each of them painting. She passed on favorite family recipes including delicious fresh rolls and Thanksgiving dressing to her daughter-in-law, Carolyn, who will always cherish the time spent learning those family favorites. She had a special relationship with her niece, Angela Olivan, and her three children, Ezra, Elijah, and Eliza. Goldie also loved her sweet dog, Lady, who passed a few years ago.

Most importantly, Goldie loved Jesus. She was baptized in her early adulthood at the First Baptist Church in Tucumcari, NM by Bob Miller. Goldie and Bill also attended Living Waters Church in Tucumcari, NM and when they moved closer to their son they found their church home at Freedom Fellowship in Canyon, TX. The Lord called her home after a long battle with dementia on July 3, 2024.

Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Bea Alma Peacock, and her oldest brother, Dale Peacock and wife Patty.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Baum; their son David and his wife Carolyn; her three grandchildren, Ashlyn, Casey, and Serenity; her brothers, Alvie Peacock and wife Laura, and Benny Peacock and wife Lisa; her nephews, John and Jeff Peacock, and her nieces, Cindy Arias, Angela Olivan, and Misti Peacock, and many wonderful great nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Freedom Fellowship at 55 Hunsley Road in Canyon, TX on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A short graveside service will follow at Dreamland Cemetery south of Canyon, TX.
