Robert “Bill” Wayne Grant of Amarillo passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday October 12, 2025, at his home.
Bill was born on April 23, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas to Roy and Nove Grant. Bill was in the graduating class of 1966 from Palo Duro High School. He then married Sharon Pfeiffer on April 15, 1967. They had two children, Scott and Tamara.
Bill served in the United States Army from 1968-1970 and was stationed in Vietnam as a wheel and track mechanic for 9 months. Bill was co-owner of Double G Castings with Roy Green where he worked as a machinist for 11 years. He had many other jobs at chemical companies until he went to work for Mayfield Paper in 2008 where he later retired from in 2023.
In his younger years, Bill was always ready for a quick weekend Ski trip to Angel Fire or Sipapu Ski Resort. Bill took his kids and grandkids to the Canadian River to ride three wheelers, four wheelers, and dirt bikes. In his spare time and retirement, Bill enjoyed watching NASCAR, listening to old music, helping his family with any home projects, tinkering in the shop and working on his cars, helping his grandson, Austin, with his landscape business and projects, and sitting on the back deck with the love of his life, Sharon, sipping on a bourbon and coke watching the birds and enjoying the weather. Bill always looked forward to the days when the grandkids brought their dogs over to visit.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Nove Grant and his beloved son Scott W Grant, who passed away on October 4, 2023, who was waiting for him at the gates of heaven.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Grant, his daughter, Tamara Edwards and husband Bruce, grandson, Austin Grant and wife Connor, grandson Noah Edwards and wife Selena, and one great granddaughter Monroe Edwards.
Robert (Bill) Grant and his precious wife and Family have been my Nextdoor neighbors for almost 40 years. I have special memories of Robert and my conversations across our fence, and how he installed a new motor for my 1972 Chevy pickup. He was a good neighbor, a good mechanic, and I loved how he took such great care of his home place. He will be truly missed.
