Helen “Eileen” Margaret Vaughan (also known as Maggie), 68, passed away peacefully at home with her daughters by her side on October 15, 2025. Eileen was born in Clydebank, Scotland on November 15, 1956, to parents Thomas and Rebecca Coughlan. She was one of five children.
Eileen traveled all over the world, including Dubai, Tenerife, and many countries in Europe, with France and Italy being her favorite places- she couldn’t resist the bread! When Eileen was 14 years old, she hopped on the bus to Edinburgh and carried the baton in the British Commonwealth Games. And in 1988 she had the joy of working at the World Cup. When she was 31, Eileen steered a 300,000-ton Oil Tanker through The Bermuda Triangle.
Eileen lived a life full of adventures but said her life didn’t begin until she had her daughters. Victoria in 1984 and Jennifer in 1988, they were her world. Together they were “The Three Musketeers.” In 1997 Eileen and the girls moved from Cumbernauld, Scotland to Amarillo, Texas to begin their next adventure.
Eileen was a loving, hilarious, and tenacious person. In addition to traveling, Eileen enjoyed diamond paintings, singing Celine Dion with Jennifer, spending time trying new foods with Victoria, and snuggling up with her dog, Lucy.
Eileen was a fighter, a transplant survivor, and she will be forever missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Rebecca Coughlan of Scotland. Eileen is survived by her daughters Victoria Yates of Amarillo, Jennifer Andrada and husband Jared of Amarillo. She is also survived by many friends
Eileen’s daughters are remembering their mum with a celebration of her life.

I had the pleasure of in meeting Maggie and I was able to learn a great deal from her travels stories. I travel a great deal and I kept in touch with a friend of mine that got to know Maggie as well. I missed the opportunity to attend her tea time and companionship with her friends. RIP my dear friend.

She was such a wonderful person . I met her through eBay and will always remeber the fun times with her and this adventure brought us to a few zoom calls. She was one proud mum of her beautiful daughters. She was a fighter and so so strong. I will miss her but may she rest in peace.
We met only online, but she was still a much loved friend and I will miss her a lot. Sleep well dear lady xxx
