Henry Gonzales, Jr., 60, of Amarillo passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 21, 1964, in Lamesa, Texas to Henry Gonzales Sr., and Carmen Rosalez.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at Hillside Christian Church – Amarillo Northwest Campus, 600 Tascosa Road.
Henry grew up in Lamesa and was raised by his grandparents, Eluyteria and Tobias Gonzales in Plainview, Texas. They moved to Amarillo, Texas in his early 20’s, where he met Josie Flores, and they had a daughter, Sam J. Gonzales. She was a delight to her five siblings.
He was a very hard worker. Henry worked in the restaurant industry, and in his early years, he worked as a landscaper as well. He loved to play dominoes, and cards. Henry enjoyed fishing, dancing, listening to music and watching westerns. He enjoyed watching the Cowboys when they were winning…and called them the “Cowgirls” when they were losing.
Mostly, Henry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed his favorite snacks, honey buns, oatmeal pies, Rosie’s homemade meals and family barbeques!
Henry battled with diabetes for many years which resulted in bilateral amputation. He thought that was the best weight loss program! He had the determination to walk again, and his perseverance was the driving force in his ability to become mobile!
Henry was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Samantha Josephine Gonzales; two grandchildren, Mariyah Jolie Gonzales, and Tyrus King Jones (T.K.); and by his “honey bunny”, Rosie Dennis, who spent the past 13 years by his side. He is also survived by Rosie’s two daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, and his numerous siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, whom he loved so much.
Henry was a very caring, loving person. He was family oriented and showed his love to everyone with his funny personality. Henry was a loving spouse, dad, and amazing grandpa. His family will always love and miss him and will never forget his loving personality.

I only met Henry, once. He seemed like someone I would enjoy having in my life. I wish he could have stayed with Rosie, forever. But I am grateful for the love he showered over her, while he was here. Blessings to the whole family, as you grieve such a painful loss.
