Henry Robert “Bob” Brunton, 76, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025.
He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, to Henry Robert and Sara (Flounders) Brunton. Bob spent eleven years in the Army, followed by ten years in the Navy. He was stationed in Vietnam, Georgia, Virginia, Okinawa, Japan, Giessen, Germany, Illinois, the USS Mount Whitney, and Pennsylvania. Bob retired after 21 years of service.
He then worked as a Correctional Officer for the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department in Houlton, Maine. He lived in Maine for 35 years, and has been in Amarillo, Texas for two and a half years. Bob enjoyed fine dining, travel, crossword puzzles and anything to do with History.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sara Brunton; an aunt, Marguerite “Peggy” Flounders, and a sister and brother-in-law, Challey and Mark Solly.
Left to cherish Bob’s memory are his wife, Sandra Brunton; stepson Donald Brinkman and wife Cailin; daughters Renee Harlow and Bonnie Brunton; son Dennis Brunton; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 nieces, Pam Solly and Kelly Logan; 1 nephew, Scott Solly, and five great-nieces and nephews.

I’m sad to hear of Bob’s passing. We were classmates, Penncrest Class of ’67. However, I knew Bob before that, in 7th grade—we were in the same homeroom. We hung out together sometimes in those days. Bob was a fun, easy-going guy to be with. Our parents were friends, but I never got the connection. (Chester) In later years, I asked Bob, but he did not know either. He will be missed.
