Isabel Rakestraw, 71 of Amarillo, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2022, in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be held Friday, January 14, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Destiny’s Garden. Arrangements are under the care of Shelia Chick and the staff at Destiny’s Garden.
Isabel was born 12/16/1950, to Maurico and Antonia Lucero in Hereford, Texas.
Isabel had a laugh that would make everyone else in the room start laughing even if you were having a bad day. She loved to sew quilts and any kind of décor, and she was good at it too. Isabel hated to take pictures, she refused to take pictures! She always would hide and tell people “Don’t be trying to take a picture of me, I see you!” She collected tea sets and mice(not because she liked mice but because her brother Jimmy would buy her cute ones that she would take and collect).
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; two older sisters; nieces; nephews, and cousins. Isabel had a huge family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her only daughter Jeanette Rakestraw aka Nikkie; three grandchildren, Kevin, Brittanie Nychole, and Jordan; one great-grandchild, Kayden; four brothers, all of Amarillo, Sam Lucero and wife Adela, Morris Lucero, and wife Victoria, Jimmy Lucero, and Agustine Lucero; four sisters, Amelia Mungia and husband Paul of San Antonio, Texas, Susie Grim and husband Ron, Rita Mejia and husband Bobby of Casa Grande Arizona, Barbara Silva, and Shane Stowe; her best friend of almost 40 years, Dorothy Boyett; a large number of nieces and nephews, as well as many other family members, cousins, and friends.
She had a wonderful personality, that’s for sure! She made everything fun. I loved to have conversations with her, she made anything we talked about so interesting. I will miss those conversations…I loved her like a sister. I know she is in heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, because of her beautiful devotion to Him. She served him with all of her heart…I love you Isabell, my sister in Christ.
That was a beautiful memorial to your mom Jewnette
