Jackie Lynn Jackson, also known as Jack, left this world to join his heavenly Father on January 3, 2025. He was born on November 16, 1949, in Lubbock, Texas, and spent his last years in Amarillo, Texas, a place he called home for a decade. Jackie’s life was a testament to his adventurous spirit, his creative genius, his humorous heart, and his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.

Jackie was a man of many talents. He went from bravely serving our country in The Army during the Vietnam War to crafting compelling stories as a writer and excelling in sales. His creativity shone brilliantly in his poetry, earning him awards such as the Amarillo College’s Award for Best Feature Story and the Editor’s Choice Award for outstanding achievement in poetry from the National Library of Poetry. Jackie’s spirited disposition carried him through a life of diverse experiences, from living in various places across Texas to collecting knives, lifting weights, and bike riding. His love for reading the Bible and memorizing scripture was an integral part of his life, reflecting his deep faith and commitment to his Christian beliefs.

In the words of the Apostle Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7) Jackie lived these words daily. He was baptized in the First Assembly of God in El Paso in 2004 and pursued his faith with fervor. His legacy of faith, resilience, and humor will long be remembered by those who knew him.

Jackie is survived by his brother, Darrell Jackson and his sister, Linda K Belk; his brother-in-law Roy Belk; his nephews Robert, Eric, Kristopher, Stephen, and Michael; his nieces Kimberly, Melisa, and Megan; his five great-nephews Ethan, Jameson, Victor, Paul, and Alexander; and his two great-nieces, Jocelyn and Karleigh; and one great-great nephew Jaxton. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Jr. and Bessie Jackson; his grandparents, Thomas and Bessie Buchanan; his great-grandparents, Weasley Winslett, Charity Winslett, John Buchanan, and Ellen Buchanan; and his sister-in-law, Janith Jackson.
