Jacklyn Mae Martin, 81, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on November 19th, 2025. She was born on March 24, 1944, in Washington D.C. She was the daughter of the late Walter “Jack” Martin and Carolyn “Dija” Martin Miranda.

Jacklyn lived a life defined by independence. She was a woman of varied professional pursuits, enjoying a vast range of careers from working at a fish market as a teenager and tending bar and go-go dancing when she came of age. She then went into accounting once she had children. After that she managed a small bookstore where she could immerse herself in her love of books and reading. She then went onto becoming a CNA to earn extra money. Once she saved up enough money, she was able to open up her own Glass Antique shop in Amarillo that she moved back and forth to Lubbock, Tx. She ran the Glass shop until her first heart attack forced her into retirement and back into the pages of her favorite books.

Jacklyn was a kind woman. Always willing to help a stranger in need. Even going as far as taking in homeless people when they came to her shop looking to get out of the rain. Feeding them and giving them a warm place to sleep when the weather turned cold. She lived a very modest life and liked to keep her circle small. She wasn’t much of a talker. She much preferred to be the one who listened and kept her opinions to herself. I think that is what made her such a joy to be around.

Jacklyn wasn’t a very spiritual person, but she was keenly aware of her clairvoyant abilities at an early age and wanted nothing to do with them. She attributed them to her mother who was a professional Astrologer.

While life took many winding paths, her later years provided an opportunity for reconnection and understanding with her family.

Jacklyn is survived by her younger brother Mike Miranda Felty and 4 of her children: Clement (Mel) Grieco III, Carolyn Grieco (Tom) Griffin, Trina Grieco Younger, and Laura Provost Gunter. Her grandchildren Charles, Dija, and Tabitha Abernathy, Dillyn Canterbury, Rebecca Bowman, Greg Miller, Andrew Grieco, Breeanna Agee, Carisa Younger, Michael and Anthony Griffin, and several great-grandchildren.

She was sadly preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Grieco Abernathy, her son-in-laws Tim Younger and Keith Gunter, her sister Jeannie Marshall and her parents.

We would like to thank all the people at Pampa Nursing Center and the High Plains Senior Care Hospice for taking such good care of Jacklyn in her final years. You are truly angels on earth.

Per Jacklyn’s request there will be no services, and she will be cremated by Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation Services.
