James Richard Fox was born, April 28, 1948, to Ralph and Louise Fox in Burlington, IA. The family was transferred to Amarillo in June 1957. He graduated from Tascosa High School in May 1966. He Participated in Scouting obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout in January 1965 as a member of Troop 86 sponsored by Saint Paul United Methodist Church.
James was baptized into our Lord Jesus Christ in 1967. He married the love of his life Karen Lee Gibson on December 27, 1979, at Washington Avenue Christian Church.
James graduated from Amarillo Junior College, receiving an Associate of Applied Science Degree. Following he attended Wayland Baptist University and graduated with Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Business and Information Systems. He loved Wayland serving as adjunct instructor, while continuing to support his alma mater.
He also worked at Pantex Plant and the National Headquarters of the Civil Air Patrol as a Communication Specialist.
His greatest joy above all else was serving his Lord Jesus Christ as an elder and teacher, at Highland Christian Church. If he couldn’t attend church due to health issues, he was serving the lord by utilizing his computer skills on various projects to help the church thrive.
Besides spending time with his wife, he loved his puppy dogs. He always had at least two fur babies running around their house.
He had a passion for serving and helping others by volunteering at the Civil Air Patrol as an aircraft observer and ground team member. He also spent his time as a volunteer with the City of Amarillo, Potter and Randall Counties to assist in communications in emergency situations.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Karen; two brothers Tom and Bob Fox; a sister Elaine Wood and husband Forest; a son James Richard Fox, Jr. and wife Christi; a daughter Jennifer Fox; two grandsons Jordan Fox and Ryan Swart; a great-granddaughter, Camilla, and great-grandson, Stone.
