James Steward

James Steward, 77, was born in Portales, New Mexico on January 5, 1947.  He passed away surrounded by his family on June 19, 2024, in Amarillo.

He loved golf, casinos, and car shows.  James had a 1970 Chevelle that he loved to show.

James was a plastic engineer.  He loved everything to do with the plastic industry.  He lived in many states during his career.  James came back to Texas when he retired and lived by Lake Texoma where he fished as a boy.  He golfed five days a week here and was ever happier.  James helped raise his two granddaughters and was so proud of them.

James had many dogs, big and small.  He could never turn any stray away.

He loved reading and watching about space.  He loved the unknown.  His favorite song summed up his life.  “I Did it My Way.”  That is the way he lived his life…his way!

James was preceded in death by his daughter Misty; his parents Jean Marie Mindrum and Ovie John Steward, and a daughter-in-law, Elvira Steward.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons, Jimmy and Jason; a sister Ann Engler; a brother-in-law David Engler; a brother, Patrick Mindrum; grandchildren, David, James Brent, Kristy and Sabrina, and great-granddaughter, Kyndall.
