James Walter Gooch, a father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 64 on November 21, 2024. Born in Canyon, Texas, James spent most of his career in healthcare by selling insurance, accompanying people to medical visits, and as a pharmacy tech. James was a man of faith and grew up in the Baptist church.
James had a lifelong love for sports, with golf and tennis being his greatest passions. His talent and enthusiasm for these games were matched only by his desire to teach others. A familiar face on social media, James shared his love for golf with a growing audience on TikTok, where he offered tips and lessons to help others improve their skills. A devoted Baylor Bears fan, James proudly cheered for his team.
James is survived by his mother, Sarah Jane Gooch, his brother, Ed Gooch, his two sons, James Walter Gooch Jr. and Joseph Gooch, and a grandson, Franklin Gooch.
A celebration of his life will be held on April 12 at 1:00 PM at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas.
He will be missed but never forgotten.
