Born on October 3rd, 1928 in Uniontown, PA, James was a beacon of light, casting a radiant glow of love, resilience, and dedication. His spirit, as vibrant as a sports car speeding down an open road, was a testament to his zest for life. A dedicated Catholic, James attended mass every Saturday evening and on Holidays, deeply rooted in his faith. He often quoted the Bible verse, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13), embodying this resilience in all aspects of his life.

James was an ambitious man. He pursued a career as a physician, dedicating his life to the service of others. He was a beacon of hope to many, his dexterous hands expertly weaving the fabric of wellness and recovery. But it was not just his career that showcased his ambitious nature. Even in his hobbies, James was spirited and full of life. He loved the thrill of playing tennis, the freedom of flying, and the exhilaration of driving sports cars. As he navigated through life, he carried with him the same resilience he displayed on the tennis court, in the cockpit, or behind the wheel.

James leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his four children, Allyson Mason-Herr, Julie Wong, Melissa Mertogul, and Paul Mason, and his son-in-law Ted Herr. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy Mason, and his mother Marie Mason. His love for his family was unparalleled. A dedicated father and husband, James was the cornerstone of his family, always putting their needs before his own. His love was as vast as the Texas plains he called home, as resilient as the medical profession he served, and as profound as his faith.
