Janet Hollingsworth, aged 74, passed away on June 20, 2025, in Amarillo, TX. Born on November 18, 1950, Janet was a vivacious woman who never met a stranger and always made others feel welcome. She was determined and resilient as she lived with Type 1 diabetes for 70 years and had multiple other health problems but never let them get the better of her.
Janet graduated from Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas, and attended Amarillo College. She worked at various times as a manager at Levi Strauss in Amarillo, Texas, interior design in San Francisco, California, and served as a secretary at the Evangelical Free Church in Walnut Creek, California.
Jan enjoyed a variety of hobbies and activities including racing motor-cross (in her younger years), cooking, hosting, traveling, sewing, and crafts. Most of all she loved Jesus. Her faith was evident and amazing and encouraging to others. She loved worshipping her Lord with friends and family at First Baptist Church of Amarillo, Texas, and previously at North Creek Church in Walnut Creek, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Mozelle McInnis; brother, Jim McInnis; aunt and uncle, Ronald and Freda Smith; and nephew, Bradley Caudle.
Janet is survived by her loving husband, Martin Hollingsworth; daughter, Jennifer Hollingsworth; granddaughters, Rachel and Claire Trahern, who were the apples of her eye; daughter-niece, Dena Cornelius; son-in-law-nephew , Lance Trahern; sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and David Cornelius; sister-in-law, Jimmie McInnis; and numerous nieces and nephews including Jana and Chad Detrick and family, Melissa Caudle, Tina and Larry Neff and family, Lynn and Marlyn McInnis and family, and multiple cousins whom she loved dearly.
A service to celebrate Jan’s life will be held on Friday, June 27, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of First Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janet’s memory can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, First Baptist Church of Amarillo, TX, or North Creek Church in Walnut Creek, CA.

Jan was one of the sweetest, most positive, encouraging lady we have had the privilege of calling dear friend for more almost 40 years. We have been blessed to have her and Marty in our lives for all that time and will miss her sweet “I love you so much” and her kind and caring ways. She is with her Jesus that she loved and served her whole life and we rejoice in that but will miss her so much. Love and prayers for Marty and the family. Love, The Martins

Jan welcomed us and our daughters when we moved across the street from them in Walnut Creek California. Jan and Marty became like grandparents to our children, Meghan and Kelsey, and great friends to us. We cherished every moment and were sad to see them moved back to Texas. Jan loved cars. Typically that is a “guy” thing. Give her a car with plenty of horsepower, chrome rims with T/A radial tires and a clutch and a 4 speed transmission, and she was happy as a lark. A beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit. Onto Glory!
Marty we have known you & Jan for over 40 years!! We raised our kids together & taught them about Jesus & watched them grow… We witnessed you both taking care of your beautiful granddaughters & loving on them & teaching them about Jesus too.. You have both been a shining light to many!! We will miss Jan for now & we will all celebrate together when we get to Heaven!!!

Marty, just learned of Jan’s passing. I was part of the bingo group in Martinez also knew her from North Creek as Jennifer went for many years to Sunday school with our son Ty.
