Jerry Gene Frisbie, 93, of Amarillo, Texas peacefully passed away on Sunday July 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born to Thomas Edward and Chessie Frisbie in Amarillo, Texas on February 26, 1932. After graduating from Amarillo High School in 1950, he married Joyce Carroll and resided in Amarillo. The union would last for 53 years and produced three sons: David, Tom and Mark.

Jerry was a very talented artist, and, in his 40-year career, headed the art departments of all three of the Amarillo television stations as well as the departments of several printing companies and advertising agencies.

Besides his artistic talent, Jerry enjoyed restoring antique radios, listening to classical and jazz music, reading classic books and novels, and, perhaps first and foremost, watching Laurel & Hardy movies.

After the death of his beloved wife, he applied for a job at United Supermarkets and was subsequently hired. He worked at the Gem Lake Road location for 16 years where he was much loved by both fellow employees and customers alike. In 2013, he was selected as the employee of the year for the entire supermarket chain, an accomplishment that he was very proud of.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; three brothers; his son, Tom; and two grandchildren, Jennifer Frisbie and Chessie Frisbie, both of Amarillo.

He is survived by two sons, David Frisbie and Mark Frisbie, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Frank Frisbie of Amarillo, and Tom Frisbie of Bloomington Springs, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Parker of Amarillo, Melody Frisbie of Amarillo, Andrew Frisbie of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Micah Frisbie of Amarillo, and Alexander Frisbie of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by several great and great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at BSA Hospital for the caring and support they provided during Jerry’s final days. A private memorial for the family is planned for a later date.
