Joe Fielding Gaylor III

Joe Fielding Gaylor III

Joe Fielding Gaylor III passed from this life December 31, 2020. Though he struggled with his health over the past year, he fought the good fight.

Joe was born August 12, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas to Joe and Marie Gaylor. He was the second of five siblings with whom he shared many holidays, family celebrations, and memories. Joe was a studious young man and athlete in his early school days. He excelled in mathematics, English, and track and field. He began working during high school, and secretly saved his lunch money for a “brand new, candy apple red, 1967 Mustang”. He bought it, shared it with his brother Bob, and restored one like it as a gift to his daughter when she graduated high school.

Joe continued his studies at Abilene Christian University; he thrived in accounting and English literature. He followed his studies with a thirty-two year career at Southwestern Bell Telephone and A.T.& T. His children had the benefit of a father and mother who spent many hours after school at the dining room table by their sides, tutoring them with their homework. More than a few strangers benefitted when Joe not only stopped, but fixed their cars if they were stalled. He lent his efforts through the Red Cross to those effected by Hurricane Sandy.

He is survived by his wife Karenjoy and daughter Connie Marie of the home; his son Dr. Patrick Gaylor and wife Allie, along with their children Isla, Emil, and Mable; his daughter Misti Cooney and husband Dr. Paul Cooney, along with their children Paul, Noah, and Conner; Kathy Bunkley-Gaylor; mother Marie Gaylor-Killingsworth; brothers Robert and Michael; sister Celeste Saadeh and husband Dr. Constantine Saadeh, along with their children Dr. Charles Saadeh and wife Dr. Brooke Mills Saadeh; and McKenzie Roberts and husband Ben. His father Joe Fielding Gaylor Jr. and sister Lynette Gaylor-Turner preceded him in death.

Joe’s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church be made.

Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1200 S. Washington, Amarillo, TX 79102
Viewing will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 8th, 2021 at Lighthouse Funeral and Cremation Service, 4207 SW 21st Ave, Amarillo, TX 79016

Joe thank you for the time even it was short knowing you personally when you visited here in the Philippines but I knew of the fact that you are truly kind hearted and wonderful person. A down to earth one. Thanks a lot for everything. Now, you have return to our Creator and I know there’s a great space in you in Heaven. Truly blessed that God ends up the pain you experienced. I even told Connie that turning 8 years old, means also infinity to you- and that you are now in infinite world God has promised us. You are now our new Angel watching us from above.

Rest in peace Joe. We love you and miss you always…
