Joe Gonzales passed away April 1, 2023. He was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico July 15, 1943 to Delia Sena.
Joe was raised in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. He loved to watch football and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Caprock High School of Amarillo, and the Santa Rosa Lions of Santa Rosa, New Mexico. He very much enjoyed watching old western movies and old western series. Joe helped countless people as an insurance agent, serving the families of Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Delia Giron; grandparents, Anita and Margarito Gonzales, who raised him, his brother, Rick Baros, and his daughter, Janice McDougal.
Joe is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Dawn. They were married on October 1, 2004, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico. He is also survived by his son, Mark Gonzales and wife Carol, granddaughter’s, Lauren Gonzales, of Denton Texas, Brittney Myers and husband Andy, Breana Tyra, Taylor Tyra, Tara Bradley and husband Roy all of Amarillo, and Tamera Strong of Denton, Texas; great-grandchildren, Landon Myers, Hyden Myers, Henley Myers, and Ivy Tyra; his sisters, Linda Burdine, and Nancy Zamora and husband George; brothers, Tom Lopez and wife Barbara all of Albuquerque New Mexico, Ben Baros and wife Mary of San Antonio, Texas, and Andrew Lopez of Colorado; his aunts, one uncle, many cousins and friends. He is also survived by special grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Dawn’s family.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., from 1:00-4:00 p.m. April 29. Barbeque will be served if you wish to bring a side or dessert feel free to do so, plus a lawn chair. Some seating will be available also.

I have such good memories of Joe. I had the privilege of working w Joe for 20 years in the insurance world. He was a hard working, caring individual who took care of his clients. I will miss Joe. The world is smaller without him.
