John Wayne Davis, 93, of Amarillo, passed away on January 10, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Davidson, Oklahoma on December 30, 1931, to Emory and Lillie Davis.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., in Amarillo. A private graveside service will follow.

Wayne was such a kind soul. He loved his family fiercely. He was loved by anyone who ever met him. Most of all, Wayne loved his wife, Sue for 34 years. If he wasn’t at home, he was fishing or with his buddies or enjoying happy hour.

He took great pride in his grandkids, teaching them everything he thought they needed to know. He was ever so proud of his great-grandchildren.

He was an avid John Wayne fan, probably his biggest fan, considering he was his namesake.

If Wayne wanted to do something, he would do it! We know that without a doubt, Wayne was very special from the day he was born. As his family, we always treasure our time on this earth with him. While we know that we, as his family will miss him, so will anyone else that met him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Lillie Davis; three sons, Ronnie Davis, Terry Faulkner, and Jimmy Gober; four brothers, Randall Davis, Shelly Davis, Noah Emory Davis, and Carroll Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Davis; children, Randall Davis, Cindy Pfeiffer, S’quetta Lehman and husband Brian, Melissa Pratt and husband D.P., Lane Provence and wife Traci, Christy Kimbrough and husband Darrell; sister-in-law, Anita Monson and husband Mike; grandchildren, Cory Davis and wife Breana, Stormie Davis, Sierra Hewitt, Jayci Davis, Codi Davis, Dracie Dickenson, Shaun Pfeiffer, Keenan Pfeiffer and wife Kailyn, Jake Loewenstern and wife Allison, Zackary Kimbrough, Brody Provence and wife Makayla, Rainey Provence, and Kendall Wallsmith and husband Zach. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Adalynn Davis, Sebastian Hewitt, Kayhnee Gutierrez, River Loewenstern, Bentli Rodriguez, Slater Provence, Quad Provence, Griffin Pfeiffer, and many other family and friends.
