Jonathan “Jon” Del Pozo, 79, of Amarillo, was called home on August 7, 2025 to be with his God and reunite with departed family and friends.

Jon was born on March 16, 1946, to Peter and Ewilda Del Pozo in Stockton, California. He was raised on a dairy farm and was no stranger to hard work. Jon joined the Air Force after graduating high school. While in the Air Force, he served two tours in Vietnam as a Corpsman. He flew into many dangerous situations. All of the men simply called him Doc. Jon was very proud of his service to his country and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Jon worked as a Deputy Sheriff in Challis, Idaho after leaving the service. He then accepted a position with the Department of Energy at Pantex, where he worked until his 20-year mandatory retirement. During his time with the DoE, he was a courier for eight years and made several friends. When asked, they said the one thing you could count on was that everyone knew Jon! He is also remembered by all as Ollie because someone once told him he looked like Oliver North. He ran with it and often introduced himself as Oliver North.

Jon will be remembered with love by many family members and friends.

Jon had four children, Raven Attwood, Denise Kenney, Rachael del Pozo, and Janice Stoner. He married Judy Hetzler on October 9, 1998, and he gained two more daughters, Melissa McLeland and Carla Sherman.

He is survived by his wife Judy; his children, Raven Attwood, Denise Kenney, Rachael del Pozo, Janice Stoner, Melissa McLeland and Carla Sherman; ten grandchildren, Colby, Braeden, Braxton, Kinsley, Dakota, Dante, Luthien, Elessar, Isabeau, and Alyssa; seven great-grandchildren, Bowen, Sasha, Tonya, Brecklynn, Cooper, Sadie, and Waylon.

The family will receive visitors from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo, Texas. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, at Hillside Christian Church, Amarillo-South Campus, 6917 S. Bell Street, Amarillo, Texas.
