JoNell Freethy-Lyons passed away on June 17, 2025, surrounded by close family, friends and her loving children. She was born in Borger Texas December 6, 1957, to Robert Freethy and Janelle Holt. Jo was a caring mother, “Nana” and caregiver for friends and family when called upon. She was also a talented nurse for 35 years eventually earning her Master’s Degree in Nursing from West Texas University. She touched the lives of countless people and family through sharing her interests like crocheting, politics and watching classic movies.
Survived by many lucky enough to witness her love, strength and wisdom firsthand including her partner Scott Moore of Borger, Texas; two sisters, Lara Yannone of Newburgh New York and Bonnie Montgomery of Clarksville Tennessee; two brothers Bobby Stauffer of Sun City Arizona and Terry Freethy of Spring Texas; frou daughters and one son, Jennifer Gonce of Bandera Texas, Sarah Adams, Jami Teague, Evalee Anderson and Anthony Bristol all of Amarillo; ten grandchildren, Brandon, Susan, Morgan, Rebecca, Peyton, Malila, Jeremy, Justin, Regan, and Lanis; three great-grandchildren, as well as her fur babies and fur grandbabies. She is also survived by many close friends and extended family who will be forever inspired by her remarkable will, dedication and determination.
A celebration of life will be at Reed Beverage Hospitality room Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at 3:00 pm.

I remember when she took all of us to wonderland!
Jo contacted me and said the she was dying. She was such a strong person, and loved being a nurse. I told her that she climbed the highest mountjain that anyone else of our families. She said that meant so much to her. She was a person who aimed for the top of the mountain. I am so proud of her. She is now with her beautiful @ beloved mother, Janelle Sue Holt. She has left behind a loving wonderful falmily, and loving friends.
