Jose L. Ramos, also known as “Joe,” passed away on April 17, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on August 15, 1953, in Friona, Texas, Joe was a devoted father, proud grandfather, and great-grandfather whose legacy of love, strength, and wisdom will be cherished for generations.
A man of many talents, Joe was truly a jack of all trades. Whether working as a respected chief, fixing anything with his skilled hands as a mechanic, or dominating the pool table, he had a natural gift for solving problems and bringing people together. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes—always showing up for those he loved and offering guidance, strength, and unwavering support.
Joe’s deep faith as a follower of Christ grounded his life, and he was a source of joy and calm for all who had the privilege of knowing him. His gentle smile, clever mind, and loving presence touched countless lives. Family was the heart of everything he did, and he poured his love into his children, grandchildren, and loved ones.
He is lovingly survived by his four daughters, Sylvia Ramos, Augustina (Tina Jo) Gallardo and husband Carlos, Jewelie Ramos, and Traci Ramos; his eight grandchildren, Jacob Chacon and wife Samara, Desiree Washington and husband Monte, J’Lynn Ramos, Jazlyne Ramos, Ethen Gallardo, Gizelle Gallardo, Olivia Rosas, and Arayah Ramos, and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Ramiro Ramos and wife Diana, Juan Ramos, Raul Ramos and wife Yolanda, Ernestina Wilson and husband Ron, Daniel Ramos, and Richard Ramos.
Viewing and visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo. The following day, Wednesday, a Memorial Service celebrating Jose’s life will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.

It was an absolute pleasure and honor to meet you sir you created and raised a daughter that doesn’t need a man to take care of her but I will be there if she needs anything.
This has to be one, if not, the best written “obituary” I’ve read. Joe touched so many people & is the father (& grandfather) to my best friend & her kid’s. I do not think him & his life could be described any better than this. You will be missed, I’m blessed to have known you & alot of your family…reading how many you have, I didn’t even get close to get the chance to meet them all! Joe was a good man that had a generous and loving heart. It was an absolute pleasure to serve him at the Circus Room for 10 years. He always made me smile and laugh One thing is for sure beyond a shadow of a doubt, he was so very proud of Traci and her daughter, as he was of all his kids , grand kids, and great grand kids. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten Thanks for the memories my friend ❤️
Joe was a sweet man. He always had a smile for you. He loved seeing his grandchildren and was always kind to me. Praying for the whole family. It is difficult when the older generations leave us. But we will always have the memories and later on down the road they will make you smile. May God bless the family and provide peace and comfort. ❤️
