Joyce Lynne Bousquet 76 of Amarillo, Texas unexpectedly left us on September 8, 2023, following a short illness.
Joyce was born in Oberlin, Kansas on March 11, 1947, the eldest of five siblings. She moved to Texas at a young age and made Amarillo, Texas her home. She retired from Walmart after 17 years.
Joyce traveled across the country with Al during his trucking days and often reminisced with her grandchildren about the memories they made during this time. Throughout their 44-year marriage, Joyce and Al competed in bowling leagues, participated in card night with friends and enjoyed taking gambling trips to visit the casinos; the slot machines were Joyce’s favorite. Joyce continued taking trips solo, which the family was proud of her for. In her younger days, Joyce was an avid crocheter. She could crochet anything and did! Joyce was the proud owner of several pets throughout her adult life and her current pet, Dexter. Dexter was a rescue and comforted Joyce after the passing of her husband.
She loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and they were the joy in her life. She especially enjoyed going and watching Brayden play baseball and cheering him on.
Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. More than anything though, Joyce was loved and will be missed beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and devoted husband of 44 years, Alfred Bousquet; her parents L.V. and Dorothy Potts; her son Anthony Lynn Haire; siblings Jon Potts, Jayson Potts, Jean Rannals, Julie Whitaker and Sandra Bousquet.
Joyce is survived by a brother James Potts; her children, daughter Cheryl Cruz, son Danny Haire and wife Cathy, and stepchildren Linda and Darrel Norris, Janet and Jamie Edwards, Alfred J. Bousquet, Rick and Rhonda Bousquet. She is also survived by her grandchildren Megan Minor and husband Blake, grandson Trenton Haire and wife Stacie, and grandson Brayden Haire, and five great-grandchildren, MerrieAnne, Blake Jr., Jameson, Josephine, and Jordan.
A memorial service honoring Joyce’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023, in the Lighthouse Funeral Home Chapel, 3707 Wolflin Ave, Amarillo, Texas 79102.

I’m going to miss Joyce, we were childhood friends and I hadn’t seen her since we were teenagers, we stopped in Amarillo in 2020 to finally see her after 50+ years, what a joy that was! Rest In Peace my friend! ❤️
Joyce is flying high with the Angels 😇
May you rest in peace! Sending my deepest sympathy to all the family. She will truly be missed. 💞🤗🙏
I only met Joyce once but we tried staying in touch. I am glad my brother had such a faithful wife. My condolences to the family.
Sincere condolences to Joyce’s family and friends. Joyce was my eldest 1st cousin by 4 years. I remember all the good times we had at our grandparents’ Kansas farm especially during the wheat harvests. Good food from our grandmother was always a special treat. And we enjoyed some wild 4th of July celebrations with fireworks and the men sitting around cranking away on an old wooden ice cream maker. Fairwell, Joyce, say hello to our mothers.
