With immense love and respect, we honor the life of Juanita DeLeon, a beacon of resilience and joy who brought music and love into the lives of all who knew her. Born on May 15, 1944, in San Marcos, Texas, Juanita was a steadfast woman of faith who illuminated the lives of those around her until her peaceful departure on September 7, 2025. Her life was a testament to the verse, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come” (Proverbs 31:25).

Juanita was a talented harmonica player and a lover of oldies music. Her infectious laughter and radiant smile could light up any room. A loyal friend and confidante, she was always ready to lend an ear or share a comforting word. Fixing things that broke wasn’t just a hobby for Juanita; it was a metaphor for her life. She was resilient, always ready to mend, heal, and restore, just as she did with cross words puzzles. A loving homemaker, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life – singing, dancing, walking, and watching TV. What mattered most to her was her family and the music that was the soundtrack to their shared memories.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Felipe and Felipa DeLeon, her former husband, Refugio Rodriguez, and her sons, Refugio Jr. and Fidel Rodriguez. Every interaction with Juanita was a lesson in love, strength, and perseverance, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of her loved ones.

Juanita was an exceptional mother and grandmother, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of her children: Jesucita Rodriguez, Gilbert Rodriguez, Rosie Rodriguez, Teresa Escobal and husband Benito Escobal, Alfredo Rodriguez and wife Rachel Hernandez, Johnny Rodriguez and wife Magdalena Rodriguez, Ralph Rodriguez and wife Edith Rodriguez, and Marcos Rodriguez and wife Felicita Barrientos. She was a loving sister to Raymond DeLeon and wife Florinda and sister, Florinda DeLeon. She was also a cherished grandmother to Benito Escobal Jr., Monica Rodriguez, Jessica Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez David Rodriguez, Jacob Lopez, Vanessa Lopez, Eric Escobal ,Corinna Escobal, Julian Escobal , Gino Escobal , Jenny Rodriguez, Belinda Ybarra, Jonathan Ybarra, Wedo Rodriguez, Alfredo Rodriguez ,Christopher Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez, Isaac Rodriguez, Angelina Rodriguez, Bianca Rodriguez, Sebastian Rodriguez, Andy Rodriguez, Johnny Rodriguez Jr., Mikey Rodriguez, Angelica Rodriguez, Carlos Rodriguez, Adrian Rodriguez, Elina Rodriguez, Diego Rodriguez, Ariana Rodriguez, Marissa Rodriguez, Xzandria Rodriguez, Alejandra Rodriguez and her many great-grandchildren.

The visitation for Juanita will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 1:00-7:00 p.m. Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave, Amarillo, Texas, 79102. The funeral service will be held at the same location on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 12:00 noon.
