Judy Calloway Perkins, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on August 4, 2025, at the age of 70. After several months of declining health, Judy died peacefully with her beloved family by her side.

She was born on February 12, 1955, in Carthage, Texas, to her parents Golee and Georgia Calloway. Judy grew up in a close-knit family, raised with a strong sense of hard work and deep love for everyone around her. She attended Cosmetology School in Amarillo, Texas, where she earned her certificate and became a licensed cosmetologist in 1982.

After working many years at His and Hers Hair Salon, Judy opened her own salon, continuing to do what she loved until retiring from hairstyling in 1999. She met her late husband, Orsbain Perkins, through a mutual friend, and they were married on December 1, 1993.  Orsbain and Judy settled in Clarendon, Texas after their many travels together.

Judy studied and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1985, and she loved spreading the word wherever she went. Whether she was on a customer service call or out shopping, she would always say, “In your spare time, would you mind going to JW.org?” She was a mentor and role model to many, helping people of all ages find their path in life.

Outside of her ministry, Judy’s greatest joys were loving her family, tending to her beautiful flowers, playing peg, farkle and dominoes. She loved spending time with and talking to her children, grandchildren, siblings, and close friends. Judy frequently expressed her pride in her three children, speaking often about their successes. Her presence lit up every room she entered, and her warm smile brought comfort to all who knew her. Judy had a warm and nurturing spirit and was known for her flourishing garden. She always had Perkin’s Place looking like a Garden of Eden. 

Judy had a hidden persona called “Sal”.  If you ever found yourself in Sal’s presence, it was wise to keep your distance, she was quite the firecracker, LOL.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and her beloved sister Phyliss Dermerson.

She is survived by her three children: Kim Johnson (Brian), Tammie Layton, and James King; her special fur-daughter, Goldie; and her grandchildren, who lovingly called her Grana: Kourtney Hamilton (Joshua), Dalawina Johnson, Jazmine Campbell (Thomas), Sidney Franklin, Kaleb King, Kavon Layton, Rhys Shields, Jayden Cortez, Jedidiah King and Ivy Shields, and her three great-grandchildren: Harper Hamilton, Keenan Campbell and Jace Johnson. She is also survived by her siblings: Sam Calloway, Vanessa Malone (Rick), Ruby Calloway, Gloria Faye Calloway, Charles Calloway (Margaret), Jewel Gardner (Larnce),  Annie Smith, Leroy (Jr.) Johnson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who loved her deeply.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, her infectious laugh, and her unwavering commitment to her faith, family, and community. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, 12:00 P.M. at Donley County Senior Citizens Center, 115 E 4th Street, Clarendon, TX 79226, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her life and share their fondest memories of the amazing woman she was.
